Which one shall it be?
This is me reciting the poem "Allerseelen" for classical singers.
Text: Hermann von Gilm, set to music by Richard Strauss (amongst others).
You can choose between 3 audio files, always accompanied by a PDF file*, or the complete bundle.
(*IPA transcription, word for word translation and semantic translation):
- Normal speaking tempo
- Slow speaking tempo
- Word for word
- or the complete bundle of all tempi
I use the guttural "r" sound, which you would use in normal speaking.
When singing: Feel free to roll the "r" with the tip of your tongue, wherever you hear a guttural "r" in this audio file.
Allerseelen

All soul's day
Put on the table the fragrant mignonettes,
bring the last red asters,
and let us talk of love again
as once in May.
Give me your hand, so I can press it secretly,
and if people see it, I do not care,
give me just one of your sweet looks
as once in May.
There are flowers and fragrants on each grave today,
one day each year is devoted to the dead.
Come to my heart and be mine again,
as once in May.
